2010-11 Survey Results

From September to October 2010, 946 irrigators across SA, NSW and VIC took part in a University of South Australia telephone survey about farming and water trade. The report in the link below highlights some of the main findings.

As at the beginning of June 2011, we have sent a mail-out survey on water market participation issues back to the same 946 irrigators. Participation in this survey is of course voluntary, and you can choose to withdraw from this research project at any stage.

The purpose of this additional survey is to ask irrigators to think about their participation in the water market under different conditions. We are also exploring your views as to how the government should spend money to obtain environmental water. These alternative programs may have different consequences for irrigators. Please note that we are totally independent researchers, and we are collecting this information for research purposes only, with the desired aim of informing/changing government policy. All answers will be kept strictly confidential and only results at a state level will be reported. Names will not be stored with the survey answers, and all records will be stored under lock and password protection at the University of South Australia.

Those irrigators who send back the survey in the reply paid envelope will receive their choice of book, or a $15 gift certificate, which will be sent out after orders are finalised in a few months.
